C’mon everyone - get the pictures off the computer!

Published by Jill under Uncategorized

So, I had a call yesterday, yes, on a Sunday…from a customer who was frantic about her pictures. She was getting ready to place an order for a Photo Purse and when she went to attach the image to her order she said her computer completely shut down and when she restarted it the screen was blank!

After talking to her for about 15 minutes, I came to the conclusion that it sounded like her computer just crashed and said “lady I have had enough, I cannot hold anymore data!”.

I could hear her tears when I asked, “So what were you storing on your computer, Linda?” (names have been changed to protect the guilty!)

Well, I want to say I was shocked with her response, but I wasn’t….she had EVERY image she ever took of her 2 kids, who are 5 and 3 years old. EVERY IMAGE!!!!  Even with an everyday point and shoot that is some massive file sizes.

So, now sadly she has no images of her kids…..NADA!

I recommended she send it out to someone to see if they can retrieve the images from her hard drive…but it is a pricey endeavor to do this, but obviously needs to be done or 5 years of pictures are forever gone.

PLEASE….when you take pictures…please do the following:

-Download the images from your camera card into your computer

-Delete any you do not want

-Upload them to an online printing company, then get a 4×6 of EVERY image.

-Burn the images to a CD

Then you will ALWAYS have them! I am an old fashioned girl….pictures were meant to be printed! In 100 years no one will be able to open a CD or a DVD, they can scratch..melt…or just become absolute…hey, remember 8 tracks?!?!?  Yes I am THAT old…..

…but pictures…if kept in a cool dry place will be here FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

……I am passionate about this…..so please…if the pictures matter to you now….think how much they will mean to someone in your family 50 or 100 years from now…..think about it….and then get printing!

Talk about SURPRISED!!!!

Published by Jill under I Love Photo Gifts News

So yesterday I began getting calls and emails from total strangers about this article I was in about web design and search engines. I had done an interview several months ago and completely forgot about it. So, I rushed out to the bookstore to see this article that everyone was saying was so great, and OMG…it was a full 2 -page spread on ilovephotogifts.com.

I almost fell over right in the bookstore. I have a had a few press hits here and there, but this was huge-SmallBiz magazine by Businessweek.

You can view the article HERE.

I am still in shock over it, and thrilled that I was chosen to take part in this piece! Just wanted to share my joy, so thanks for listening!

So I had an interview!

Published by Jill under I Love Photo Gifts News

I recently did an interview with an amazing woman named Susan Reid, she runs an awesome website that inspires women to find their inner selves and pursue their dreams. The interview was focused on how I “fell” into my business. That is was not something I planned or ever thought about, but a small basic need that was not meant made me think about creating a market for that need.

Take a peak (it was an audio interview..my very first, but they also transcribed it!)…and you will learn about how and why I started ilovephotogifts.com!

Accidental-prenher Interview

Be sure to scope out the blog too, it has some great inspiration if you are looking to start a business!

What A Workout!

Published by Jill under Uncategorized

This was a session with one of my favorite people…started out as a customer a few years ago and is now a friend! Lori is the owner of Mommy-Moves, who many of you have heard me talk about. She is just full of energy and a beautiful person inside and out.

Now, I knew this would be a challenging session from the start…a 1 year old, an almost 3 year old, a late day session and lots of sun…..but it actually turned out pretty good! OK, so I did not get any super great shots of the boys together…..but Lori can never say I didn’t give it my all!

Here a few for your sneak peak guys, I hope you like what you see so far….and did I mention how much I LOVE your dog?!

If you have ever worked with me you already know just how passionate I am about what I do, both with my photography and the custom photo gifts and art. Both sides of the business have been a blessing in so many ways and now I feel it is time for me to give back to others in the best way I can!

Every month I will do 1 free portrait session for a deserving family that will be nominated by you! They will receive a free 1 hour session and $200 in portraits. Any additional portraits they would like to order will be 50% off our retail prices. *

Everyone deserves to have a family story captured in time to share with future generations. This will allow a few families that opportunity whom may have not otherwise had it.

Here are the details of the session:

  • Session will have to take place between the 16th and 30th of the month the nominee is chosen. (July winner will be selected July 15th and contacted immediately, they have 2 weeks to redeem their session)
  • Session will take place at Holmdel -Longstreet Park or other nearby vicinty.
  • Session is for a maximum of 5 subjects and only applies to parents/children or caregiver/children. No extended families please. Pets are always welcome!

What Family Is….

Published by admin under Expressions Photo News

……I had the honor of photographing one of the most wonderful and happy families I have ever met. These 3 kids were closer than any I had ever seen at these ages, and although it was a session I was a little hesitant about b/c it was a new age range for me, it was one I am thrilled I had the opportunity to do.

Every session I do is special, but this one just a little more so….I wish more families took the time to enjoy each other the way this one does….thanks to Mom and Dad for allowing me into their home!

Here are a few, but there are so many more to come..

and of course I did not forget my buddy Natalia!
